It's hard to believe that we're already getting ready to send kids back to school; didn't summer just start?
Juntos, the University of Kansas Medical Center, Children's Mercy Kansas City, the Wyandotte County Health Department, Vibrant Health Clinic, Heart to Heart International helped kids and families get ready for heading back to school on July 15.
Approximately 80 kids, with their families, attended a Back to School event hosted by Juntos to get ready for the upcoming school year.
At the event, med students from KUMC and medical providers from Children's Mercy conducted approximately 69 physical exams for the kids making sure they were fit and healthy for the new academic year.
The Wyandotte County Health Department vaccinated 24 children with a total of 86 life-saving vaccines. Heart to Heart International provided 16 A1C tests for adults. Vibrant Health Clinic was present, providing valuable clinical resources and information for those in need of a medical home.
Thanks to the generous contribution from Aetna, Juntos was able to provide backpacks and school supplies to all the attending children, ensuring they had everything they needed for school.
We also thank United HealthCare and the Kansas Civic Engagement Table for their unwavering support. Their commitment to the community made this event a great success.
Special thanks to Marianela and Martha from Saint Evangelist Church at Lady Unity Parish for their dedication and collaboration throughout the event's planning and execution.
