Functional Evaluation of a Novel RPL30 Mutation and its Role in Diamond Blackfan Anemia: A Model for Studying Ribosomopathies
Alexandra Prosser, M.D. from Children’s Mercy Kansas City, is currently participating as a scholar in the TL1 Postdoctoral program. Her research project titled "Functional Evaluation of a Novel RPL30 Mutation and its Role in Diamond Blackfan Anemia: A Model for Studying Ribosomopathies." is being conducted in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department under the guidance of John Perry, Ph.D. This project commenced on July 1, 2023, and is set to conclude on June 30, 2025.
In her first year of TL1 support, Prosser gained extensive research training and education, significantly advancing her scientific aims and refining her analytical and writing skills essential for a future career as a clinical scientist. She received lab training in induced pluripotent stem cell culture, hematopoietic differentiation, colony forming assays, and flow cytometry, which have enhanced her bench skills and optimized experiments for her oncology research. Additionally, she completed 12 hours of a Masters in Clinical Research, attended institutional workshops in grant writing and genomics, presented research posters at both local and national conferences, and is preparing to apply for a NIH K award.
