Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors Reverse Leukemia Microenvironment Immunosuppression
Rong Xin Liu, from KU Lawrence, participated as a scholar in the TL1 Predoctoral program. Her research project titled "Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors Reverse Leukemia Microenvironment Immunosuppression" was conducted at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in the School of Pharmacy under the guidance of Haitham Abdelhakim, M.D. This project commenced on July 1, 2023,and concluded on June 30, 2024.
This year, Liu completed the MS-CR program at KU Medical Center's Department of Population Health, gaining critical skills and knowledge in clinical research. Her laboratory-based research training provided a deep understanding of the preclinical phase of translational cancer therapeutic investigation. Additionally, she benefited from significant networking opportunities through funded conference attendance and mentor support, reshaping her view of clinical research and expanding her post-graduation career opportunities, with plans to work towards publication in the post-award period.
