Characterizing Aging-Related Health and Mapping Health Services with Women who have Criminal-Legal System Involvement
Amanda Emerson, Ph.D. from KU Medical Center Kansas City, participated as a scholar in the KL2. Her research project titled "Characterizing Aging-Related Health and Mapping Health Services with Women who have Criminal-Legal System Involvement" is being conducted in the Nursing Department under the guidance of Megha Ramaswamy, Ph.D., MPH. This project commenced on July 1, 2022, and concluded on June 30, 2024.
During her KL2 program, Emerson completed several advanced training courses, including grant writing and biostatistics, and participated in workshops on community-led research and building partnerships. She presented her research on CHARMS at multiple conferences, receiving an Honorable Mention for the AETNA Award at the APHA Annual Meeting, and made significant progress on manuscripts and funding applications, including an R01 and a PCORI grant. Additionally, Amanda’s Loan Repayment Program Award application was successfully funded by NIA in August 2023.
