Investigating the Challenging Eating Behaviors of Children with Autism at Mealtime
Anna Wallisch, Ph.D. from the University of Kansas Medical Center Kansas City, was a scholar in the KL2 program. Her research project titled "Investigating the Challenging Eating Behaviors of Children with Autism at Mealtime" was conducted in the Juniper Gardens Children's Department under the guidance of Ann Davis, Ph.D., MPH, ABPP. This project commenced on July 1, 2022, and concluded June 30, 2024..
Wallisch has received extensive training in study design, data management, and clinical skills related to eating behavior, while also participating in statistical training on power and latent transition analyses. Professionally, she has made significant contributions through ~14 peer-reviewed manuscripts, multiple conference presentations, and has assisted with an R01 submission, while securing funding for projects with IES and the Eagles Autism Foundation. Despite some delays, research efforts have led to data collection on biosensors and ecological momentary assessment surveys involving autistic and typically developing children, along with progress in automating data processing and quality checking.
