Community Engagement and Team Science
Frontiers offers bidirectional education for investigators and patients, and community members to learn about one another for optimal participatory research as well as training in best engagement practices. Investigators can get guidance on developing a patient or community advisory board, survey design, translating materials, working with communities to disseminate research, and connecting with the community with the help of health and social service agencies. Drug, Diagnostic and Medical Device Development
The Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation (IAMI) utilizes industry best practices to discover, develop, demonstrate, and disseminate therapeutic, diagnostic, and medical device technologies that change the standard of care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and elderly patients. The field of dissemination and implementation science promotes the utilization of methods and frameworks that support the adoption and adaptation of evidence-based interventions and policies into real world practice and health care. Physical Activity Measurement
The Field-Based Physical Activity Measurement Core offers data collection and processing services for field-based physical activity-related projects (physical activity measurements with clinical or community research participants using accelerometers or similar person-worn monitors). The core has substantial expertise in using various field-based physical activity monitors in children and adults and manages an inventory of different monitors that can be rented when available. The core’s services span data collection planning, distribution and management of monitors, data processing, and consulting.
Recruitment and Network Capacity
The goal of Network Capacity is to expand Frontiers programs with an emphasis on supporting multicenter research studies and national Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) initiatives. Included in this goal is alleviating barriers that exist in connecting researchers with training and collaborative opportunities.
