Rebecca Lepping, Ph.D. from the University of Kansas Medical Center Kansas City, is currently participating as a scholar in the KL2 program. Her research project titled "Music-Based Interventions for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias" is being conducted in the Neurology Department under the guidance of Kristine Williams, Ph.D., RN, FNP-BC, FGSA, FAAN. This project commenced on July 1, 2023, and is set to conclude on June 30, 2025.
Lepping authored a Systematic Mapping Review Manuscript evaluating the quality of reporting for music-based interventions in Alzheimer’s and dementia, with submission planned for in early 2024. She secured IRB approval and initiated data collection for the KL2 Study #1 on music use in community living settings, having completed two interviews and one site observation, while scheduling 20% of the planned sites. Additionally, she is revising the data collection plan for KL2 Study #2 on the protective effects of lifetime music use for Alzheimer’s disease based on ADRC feedback, with IRB submission anticipated in early 2024, and has actively presented her KL2 research at multiple professional venues throughout 2023 and early 2024.
