Research & Discovery Grand Rounds- Words Matter: Why and How to Use Inclusive Language in Research and Healthcare

Date/Time: Apr 24, 2025, 12:00 PM to Apr 24, 2025, 01:00 PM

Location: Virtual

Please join Frontiers Clinical & Translational Science Institute for Research & Discovery Grand Rounds. This monthly series highlights information, resources and advancements in clinical and translational research.

A panel discussion on inclusive language in research and healthcare is a valuable opportunity to learn about the importance of using respectful and accurate language when addressing issues of race and sex/gender. Inclusive language acknowledges the diversity and complexity of human identities and experiences, and avoids stereotypes, assumptions, and erasure.

The panel discussion will feature:

  • Education on inclusive language (such as race and sex/gender) in research and in healthcare
  • Practical tips on how to use inclusive thinking and language in creating research questions, study proposals, and healthcare interventions
  • How to implement inclusive thinking and language in healthcare settings

The panel will also address common challenges and questions that may arise when using inclusive language and offer strategies to overcome them.
