Jun 05 09:00 AM • In-person and Virtual Genomics Education Opportunity The Genomic Medicine Center is excited to announce registration is open for the upcoming Genomic Medicine Short course. Next generation sequencing has had a profound impact on biomedical research. Clinicians and scientists seeking to stay abreast of the field may be challenged by the rapid rate of genomic discovery and technologic advancement. The Genomic Medicine Center, with support of the NIH, offers a four-day educational program in translational genomics. Topics covered in the course include technical and analytic aspects of DNA and RNA sequencing, variant interpretation, gene regulation and epigenetics, and clinical and ethical implications of genomics. The course also features multiple hands-on workshops to teach NGS analysis skills, with an opportunity for course participants to have genomic sequencing completed on themselves. Participants can use the resultant data file as they learn variant identification and characterization. This strategy, known as Personalized Genomic Educational Testing (PGET) is optional and provided at no additional cost. The course will be held June 5-8, 2023, with both in-person and virtual attendance options. CME/CEU available. Residents, fellows and early career faculty within 5 years of their terminal degree may apply for a Young Investigator Award to offset registration; support to cover registration for a limited number of investigators from Frontiers partner institutions is also available.  Please email genomicmedicinecourse@cmh.edu for additional details.
