Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design Award

The Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Trailblazer Award provides grant funding to support statistical, epidemiological, and data science investigations toward novel methods development that will improve clinical and translational research (CTR) inferences. BERD Trailblazer Awards support research projects for methods development for CTR. 

Up to two awards are given annually and each is for $20,000. 

BERD Research Focus Areas

Frontiers BERD Trailblazer Awards support projects that address methodologies or analyses useful to the study of all diseases, and include academic disciplines such as biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, data science, and other quantitative areas that impact clinical and translational science.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from faculty investigators from all Frontiers partner institutions: The University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City, Wichita and Salina campuses), the University of Kansas, the Kansas State University (Manhattan and Olathe campuses), the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and Children’s Mercy Kansas City.

Applications Accepted: Dec. 11, 2023

Application Deadline: March 4, 2024 at 11:59 PM (CT)

Funding Decision Notifications: mid-April 2024

Award Announcement: May 2024
