Research and Discovery Grand Rounds: Formative Research and Applications for Health Interventions

Formative research uses qualitative and quantitative methods for the purposes of planning health interventions that are responsive to the setting and the community of focus. This session will define formative research, describe common methods, and illustrate its applications in clinical translational research. The session will also give details on technical assistance resources and an upcoming skills series on qualitative methods. Emily A. Hurley, MPH, Ph.D., assistant professor in the division of health services and outcomes research at Children’s Mercy will present and share opportunities for learning in this area.
