In January 2021, Facebook (now Meta) changed their privacy policy, making it more difficult to target ads to people based on race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious affinity or anything that would be protected under HIPAA (i.e., cancer). This privacy update made targeted recruiting for clinical trial more difficult.
